From Nutella to gelato to the iconic Ferrero Rocher, hazelnut-infused chocolate treats hold a special place in my heart (and my taste buds).

You can bet your bottom dollar that I can spot Ferrero Rochers in any secret Santa exchange, purely from the distinct shape of the box, and I won't waste a moment in claiming them as my own. But when my personal stash runs low, these Healthy Ferrero Rochers come to the rescue, offering a vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free alternative.

Imagine this: a heavenly blend of hazelnut chocolate filling made with Loving Earth Hazelnut Chocolate, rolled in a layer of silky chocolate and crunchy hazelnut dust. It's a flavour sensation that dances delicately on your palate - not overly sweet, not too rich. Think of it as the classic indulgence of Ferrero Rochers, but with a wholesome twist.

Not only are these Healthy Ferrero Rochers bursting with flavour, but they're also incredibly simple to make, requiring just five ingredients. With Loving Earth Hazelnut Chocolate, cocoa powder, hazelnut butter, hazelnuts, and rice malt syrup, you can whip up these delightful treats in no time - no food processor needed.

While those with nut allergies should steer clear, these Ferrero Rochers are perfect for vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free diets. So, whether you're indulging in a solo treat or sharing the joy with loved ones, you can enjoy these delightful treats without any hesitation.

Perfectly Portioned: A Small Batch Recipe

Just like my recipe for Lemon Chocolate Cheesecake Slice, these Vegan Ferrero Rochers are perfectly portioned to produce a small batch. Whether you’re craving a small snack or looking to satisfy your sweet tooth after a meal, you’ll have 8 balls of bliss to enjoy between you a loved one.

Healthy Ferrero Rochers: Vegan + Small Batch

Servings: 8 balls | Prep: 15 mins | Set Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 10 squares of Loving Earth Hazelnut Chocolate, melted

  • 3 tbsp hazelnut butter

  • 1 tbsp rice malt syrup or maple syrup

  • 1 tbsp raw cacao powder

  • 8 whole raw hazelnuts

  • 1/8 cup raw hazelnuts, crushed


Method 

  1. Start by melting 5 squares of Loving Earth Hazelnut Chocolate in a microwave or using a double boiler.

  2. In a small bowl, combine the melted chocolate, hazelnut butter, rice malt syrup, and raw cacao powder. Mix until well combined to create the soft chocolate hazelnut centre.

  3. Take a teaspoon of the mixture and place a whole hazelnut in the centre. Roll the mixture into a ball ensuring the hazelnut is fully covered. Repeat another 7 times, or until all the mixture has been used.

  4. Next, melt the remaining 5 squares of chocolate. Coat each ball in the melted chocolate, ensuring they are evenly coated. Then roll each ball in the crushed hazelnuts until fully coated.

  5. Place the coated balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and transfer to the fridge for 10 mins to firm up.

  6. Once the chocolate is set, serve and enjoy your delicious homemade Healthy Ferrero Rochers!

  • These balls are best stored in the fridge to keep them firm and fresh (especially in summer time). They’re best consumed within 3-5 days.

  • Of course. You can easily substitute the chocolate square for square with another chocolate brand. Just make sure to check the dietaries if this is a consideration for you or those consuming the treat.
